About Us

We are the 2022 recipient of the Texas Pecan Growers Association's Small Grower Award.  This in recognition of our sustainable management system which fundamentally focuses on soil health and regenerative management practices.

We have submitted an article to Acres USA magazine which outlines our eighteen year collaboration with Betsy Ross Builta in pursuing a sustainable management system for growing our pecans.  This article will be published in teh August 2022 issue.

This orchard has been owned and managed by Dennis & Marilyn Perz for more than 20 years.  Planted by others much earlier, we have worked to restore and bring to prosperity what was once a dying orchard.

Our management system is based on the belief that healthy soil produces vigorous trees which yield quality pecans.  Healthy soil begins with the micro-organisms which make up the soil foodweb.  These, in turn, give us good soil structure, drainage, and provide spaces in the soil for air and water.  Next comes attention to mineral balancing and then diligent water management.  Central Texas is a semi-arid region and prone to droughts.  But our clay soil easily saturates from excess rain or irrigation.  Our management system deals with both.

Lastly, prudent crop protection is provided when threats from disease or insects arise.
